September 1–2 National Day Ho Chi Minh declared the independence of Vietnam from France on September 2 1945.
November 24 Culture Day (New in 2026) Commemorates the 1st National Cultural Conference on Nov 24, 1946. It established Ho Chi Minh’s principle, "Culture lights the way for the nation," as the spiritual pillar for independence and development.

The schedule of public holidays in Vietnam for 2026 was announced by the government on October 13, 2025.

The above notification pertains to holidays for civil servants and similar personnel, but the government also recommends that private companies follow this schedule.
* The government announced on Dec 25 that Jan 2 will be an additional public holiday.

* On Jan 7, 2026, the Politburo of the CPV decided to establish a new public holiday (Culture Day/Nov 24) starting from 2026.

Notes

  1. If a public holiday falls on a rest day (such as Saturday or Sunday), the next working day will be a compensatory holiday.
  2. The new Labor Code came into effect on January 1, 2021. The National Day holiday has been extended by one day (to a total of 2 days), and specific holiday arrangements will be announced by the government each year (as stipulated in Article 112 of the amended Labor Code).

    * An amendment to the Labor Code is planned, as Culture Day (Nov 24) will become a new public holiday starting in 2026.
